User Opinions
The price the Proctor Silex is great and it works great. The programable feature is something that isn't usually found on coffee makers "for this price" and a must have. The carafe pours nicely and fits in the machine easily. The filter holder has a nice handle that makes it easy to remove. After going through 2 bad coffee makers (Pillsbury and Black & Decker) I was going to shell out the money for a Bunn. Then I thought I could buy 5 Proctor Silex makers for the price of one Bunn. It was a good choice.

I got this coffee maker for ten dollars at a local grocery store. It has no problem making coffee the problem and there are several have to do with getting a grip on it. There are no edges or angles to grip it, the spots that do 'lend' themselves are hot. So removing the carafe, or installing it is just plain awkward. The carafe is so fragile that it will spontaneously disintegrate in the dishwasher. So be ready to purchase an endless round of carafes periodically. Our carafe first got a little lip chip on the pouring spout, four days later and four uses later a larger piece popped out of the side making it useless. Bummer at 6am. Because of the type of carafe and coffee maker it appears it must be replaced with OEM carafe. This ten dollar coffee maker is heading towards costing a fortune over time. (btw we were very careful how we placed it in the dishwasher.)My next coffee maker will take the most inexpensive replacement carafe, (metal??) i can find on the discount store shelf. I will then buy a machine that takes THAT carafe (and is approved by Cons. Reports).

Hello,I have to make this short because my first review (which i spent too long making) was erased. ANYWAY.. i'll give the ten peso version on my previous review.I bought a defective coffee maker.. did research.. got a braun KF440...opened it.. a screw was broken on the crafe.. did more research.. found this one.THEN... i gave this one to my girlfriend.. THEN.. i thought I'd try the same braun again since it was so well reviewed. However.. it too was defective. The door with the basket would open by itself from the heat. So... I had to go with this one again. the proctor silex. It is dishwasher safe which is cool.I suppose it makes a difference on the kind of coffee people put in their makers.. but i use foldgers breakfast blend...and its very good.ANYWAY.. i haven't at all regretted getting this coffee maker. It is also packed well in the box. I got mine at the grocery store. Good job for proctor silex. You don't need to spend a hundred bucks on a bunn.. or seventy bucks on a krups...etc.. just get this one. :)
