On a national food show it was demonstrated that the best coffee at home comes from the humble manual drip. Those expensive auto drip machines don't get the water hot enough, don't saturate the ground to release co2 prior to the complete pour over. This basic set has all you need to make a superior cup of coffee for less than what you would pay for a pound of coffee at a good roaster. When you want to move up you can get a Chemex or fancy manual drip machine, but if you all tired of that toxic brew they are making at work and decide to pick up some decent coffee on your own, here you go. There are numerous websites that will give you the ins and out of this method. Why not stop wasting money on funny machines with German names and get a cheap workhorse that will give you the best.

Since the drawing is lacking in detail, I will explain what this comes with. The carafe is glass, and shaped like a stereotypical diner carafe. It comes with a trivet to heat the pot on a stove without causing it to explode. Just make sure to keep the glass from touching the burner, as that will cause the glass to shatter. The filter holder rests within the lip of the carafe, and is your standard cone filter holder. However, what I did not realize when I ordered this was that this comes with a reusable filter. It is not the best reusable filter, nor does it seem to fit correctly, but it came with a $12 coffee pot. And it will serve its purpose, and that is to hold my coffee grounds. The circular thing you see to the side is a lid to replace the filter holder.Manual coffee makers make the best coffee by far, it just takes quite a bit of practice in order to do so. The beans must not be scorched, or the coffee will taste terrible.

The cone filter unit fits too snugly onto the carafe, and actually created a vacuum fit which kept the coffee from running into the pot.Disappointing and much spilled coffee trying to get things lined up so the tiny air holes were able to function. Then getting the filter unit away from the carafe without the grounds flying everywhere was another challenge. So the filter unit is in the trash, the carafes themselves just in reserve if ever needed for a party. I have gone back to genuine Melitta cone units.
