I've been ordering items online since 1990 and have never felt the need to write a review. Most things these days are made in Whoflung China, are made flimsy, and basically do not last. This lil jewel is quite the trick. There are many, many coffee manufacturers making pods that fit this brewer (61-62MM / 8-10 gram). And many choices of coffee from each manufacturer. As far as the unit itself, its build is very respectable. The water bin, which can be filled while on the unit or taken off to be filled, is solid. The little tray that you pull out to insert your coffee pod is totally solid. No bending, no flexing, period. You can change brew amount by pushing the "volume" button for 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12 oz. cups of coffee/tea. Initial set-up is a breeze. Fill with water, plug it in, put a 2 cup measuring cup under the dispenser, push the volume and brew buttons at the same time for 3 seconds. The pump comes on, water fills the cup, it's ready. If water does not come out the first attempt at priming, just do it again. You only prime it once, you'll never have to do this again. When making coffee, hit the power button to heat the unit. The blue lit indicator will indicate "heating". While it is heating, get out your coffee cup and put it under the dispenser, lift the handle and pull out the "pod" tray, insert a pod, push the tray in, pull down the handle to lock in the pod. By now the blue lit indicator probably says "ready". If so, hit the brew button, coffee is immediately dispensed, done. Solidly built, quiet, works as you'd expect, no surprises, I like that. Looks great in the red color. One last note, the coffee that comes with the unit has great taste, but runs a little on the weak side in my opinion when making an 8 oz. cup. But it is a good way to try the unit and get used to it. So far I prefer 9 or 10 grams of coffee per pod for my taste. That coffee is a little on the expensive side too. Different manufacturers put different amounts of coffee into their pods, so check that out first before buying pods. I've used up to 12 gram pods in this unit, though the unit says 8-10 grams. When locking down the pod with the handle on the side of the unit, it will not initially want to lock when using 12 gram pods, so kind of work the handle up and down 2 or 3 times and it will finally compress the pod enough to lock. Try to jam it locked without doing this and you may break the handle. Again, an awesome unit. You won't be disappointed.

Terrific coffee maker! This is my third in about two months -- my quest to replace a Senseo Supreme -- see my previous review of the Bunn for further account of my tribulations.Cutting to the bottom line: I still think I prefer the Senseo Supreme, but this is certainly a worthy alternate. The only reason I did not go with a new Senseo is that a LOT of recent reviews complained about a very bad plastic smell/taste, and associated this with a new manufacturer in the last year.Comparison to Senseo:General: Good high pressure, high temp brew. Reservoir, not pour as you go. Gives the same nice foamy top as the Senseo.Better: Accepts a bigger variety of pod sizes/brands without complaint. The Senseo could be a little finicky about non-Senseo pods. Gives the pod a short "opening blast" to prime it before the full cup.Not better: Only accepts one pod at a time; I miss being able to do an extra-large or extra-strong cup all at one go. A lot fewer size (volume) options than Senseo. I think it's noticeably noisier than the Senseo. The cup bay is a bit awkwardly-shaped; a couple of my cups with large or low-set handles don't fit quite neatly. The top looks like it is flat, but isn't: you want to set the pod tray on top when you're working with it and it slides off! (Learning curve here!)All in all, a great little machine. From what I hear of the current Senseo, it may be the better choice in the price range, or even the best. Either way, you will not be disappointed.

Best Brewer Yet!

We purchased this brewer about six weeks ago, it is by far the best we have ever owned! It looks good on our counter, is not a distraction as so many coffee makers are, and it works perfectly! We have the brewer under an upper cabinet with under-cabinet LED lights which seem to make it glow, so it is really an attractive addition to our kitchen! We champion the pod concept as every cup is freshly brewed, and the foam on top is an added attraction! We generally add half-n-half about mid-way through the cycle, and the results are uniformly great! We can highly recommend this product! Get the Red, you'll like the way it looks, we guarantee it.....
