I consider myself to be an educated buyer. I do research on the internet, decide the best product and then make my purchases. The major 4 & 5 cup coffeemaker brands out there have cheapened their products to such a point that everyone hates them so I have been waiting for a new one to come on the market. I thought I had found it in this product however after the experience I had in dealing with Holstein I would not touch it with a 10 foot pole.There is little information posted about this product, either here or on their website which merely states "On/Off Switch with light indicator, Removable filter, Glass Carafe", so I contacted the company to get more information. BIG MISTAKE! You would have thought I was a corporate spy the way I was treated. Most every other company on whose coffeemaker website I researched had their owner's manual, information and warranty posted for all to see. When I asked Holstein to send me their manual they refused and I was told that they only give them out if a purchase was made because they did not want their competitors to get hold of it. Seriously? All they have to do is buy the machine if they're that intent on getting a manual. In the meantime Holstein will not release it to those who really want one for legitimate reasons. OMG!I sent them an email asking whether or not the plastic was manufactured with BPA (check out Wikipedia) which is a known Estrogen mimic and banned in some countries, what the warranty period was, did it have a pause function, how many ounces the carafe held, how they handled warranty issues, and since it supposedly had a removable filter would it still be recommended by the manufacturer to use a paper filter with it. These are all logical questions a consumer would want to know before buying a product. You know what happened when I asked these questions via email and then followed up with a phone call? I was at first told an engineer would have to get back with me, then nothing. I receive no replies and when I called them back again I got nothing but a bunch of grief on the phone from a supervisor who kept talking over me and on which I finally hung up on. I even sent an email to the owners of the company, Vanessa and Diego about these issues and never received a reply from either of them other than a canned reply from customer service of a "we'll get back with you" kind of thing.In the meantime, I found another brand who also had not posted enough info and yet was more than willing to answer my questions in full. I will be placing an order for the product and posting a review on my profile so check my reviews later. That was all Holstein had to do, now instead they have this as their first review.Buyer Beware, you have been warned!
