This is actually the 'non-digital' version of the GE 5 cup coffee maker, which is displayed elsewhere on Amazon.Considering some of the complaints about the digital aspect of the GE that I've read on Amazon and elsewhere (flimsy keypad, timer pre-set malfunction, blue clock readout blindingly intense), unless you are enamored of digital controls and the features they add, the Better Chef is the one to get, which I did. Just note that since the sole control on the Better Chef is a simple on-off rocker switch, there is therefore no automatic shutoff, for those who feel they need that. Note also that unlike the GE, there is no water filter on this model. It's a very nice looking piece of gear and the coffee tastes as good as the no-hotplate, single cup Black & Deckers that have been sold over the years, which I consider high praise. Unfortunately, that is not the end of the story, as it also possesses the non-digital shortcomings of the GE as well. This would include a carafe in need of improvement, and most importantly, the unit simply does not get the coffee hot enough. The first sip is delivered at the temperature you would expect when you've halfway finished a cup. It would seem like such an easy thing to correct - my B&D no-hotplate one cupper is 800 watts. The GE/Better Chef, with over twice the capacity, is 550. Wrong place to cut corners.Anyway, three stars.
