Customer Reviews

Do not buy this coffee maker and be aware of the warranty!

We bought this coffee maker from MyHabit for 49.95, mostly because of the looks and price. I still like the look, however here is why you should avoid buying the coffee maker:1) We have never succeeded in poring a drip-free cup of coffee. I think this is because of the metal lit on the carafe. It seems to collect water while brewing coffee and consequently drips... very annoying2) We bought the coffee maker end of October 2011, it is now broken (mid-Feb 2012). The heating element is bust, it does no longer brew or heat.3) Warranty is disappointing (compare with the new coffee maker we bought)Of course our coffee maker broke in the morning, so much for starting the day on a good cup of coffee...Called Kalorik - nice and friendly folks, no complaints there - but were told we needed to ship the coffee maker to them at OUR expense. They would then replace the unit and send it to us. Because of the instant "we'll replace it" I think that they have seen more of these issues. We were also told that we must ship it back in packaging that prevents any damage to the unit (e.g. it will be refurbished and resold).Since they were going to ship a replacement we told them we have no interest in paying for the return. It is clearly warranty and clearly not performing as expected. I'd offer to return the unit, after they immediately ship us a new unit at their expense, but only if they pay for return shipping. The counter offer was that they will ship a new unit - place a hold on my credit card for 79.95 and then expect me to still pay for shipping the old unit back... That is when we gave up. This also came with the note that this was because we paid MyHabit instead of Kalorik... Not sure what that means, I guess they prefer to not have you buy from retailers. Why is this significant? We now bought the Cuisinart 1200 Cuisinart DCC-1200 Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Black/Brushed Metal for 79.95 (not at Amazon since we wanted it right away). The warranty of this roughly similar priced machine is 3 years vs. a 1 year from Kalorik. Kalorik requires (I checked their warranty) the consumer to always pay for shipping of the old unit, Cuisinart does limit the cost to $10 when shipping. More importantly, Cuisinart states that if you are in California, shipping the defective unit back is at Cuisinart's expense. All in all, we thought we had bought a quality coffee maker with great looks. It turned out to be a total bust. And if you are not convinced about the warranty, just be aware that you will be wiping your counter tops all the time because of the dripping carafe.End-to-end bad experience.

Just about perfect.

Easy to use, makes good coffee if you like the drip method, and takes up little space. I highly recommend this.
