Equipped with a built-in conical burr grinder, this coffeemaker automatically grinds and brews up to 10 cups of exceptionally flavorful coffee. The unit's slow burr grinding produces minimal heat, which helps preserve coffee's full aroma and flavor, while its solid-steel conical burrs offer five grind settings from coarse to fine for adjusting the coffee strength. A user-friendly push-button control panel with an easy-to-read illuminated LCD display ensures simple operation and programming. Choose from five brew amounts (2 to 10 cups) and select the coffee strength: mild, medium, or strong--or set the clock and timer for automatic brewing at a later time. The coffeemaker provides two modes of operation for brewing coffee with or without the grinder. Grind/Brew mode grinds a programmed amount of whole beans directly into the gold-tone filter, then automatically starts the brewing process. I've owned a Starbucks Barrista Machine for many years and it still works great, but I've gone through more grinders. I hadn't planned on replacing my coffee maker but a really good burr grinder isn't cheap. I saw this machine and saw the reviews and realized it wasn't that much more than a good grinder. I realized this would reduce the unsightly mess I have on my counter from two appliances and considering my usually degree of early morning incoherence before coffee (a cross between Frankenstein and name your least favorite member of Congress) - anything that makes 6 am simpler is a good thing.Setting up this machine was a breeze. I unpacked it, installed the charcoal filter and ran a cold pot of plain water through. I filled it up with beans and fresh water and let it go for the next morning. I won't say I looked forward to 6 am. I'm not that crazy, but this morning I was greeted by an excellent pot of coffee. It was the proper temperature. The coffee was shiny, a really polished look to the finish. There was no bitterness at all and it was just so rich and smooth. This was exactly the experience I was hoping for.Clean up was a snap. I pressed the button on the side and the gold tone filter swings out in the hod for simple clean up. The thermal carafe lid easily unscrews for cleaning.The amount of noise from the grinding isn't bad, it's certainly less than my Krups burr grinder and what a relief not to have a mess everywhere.Amending my review after a year and a half, I will say that I don't recommend this coffee maker for serious coffee drinkers. Several problems have come to light over the year and half.First, tech support from the manufacturer has been non existent. Emails, web requests - forget it. No response. As I am usually not in a location where I can use a telephone to reach them it would be nice if they followed through on their support.The metal filter was not adequate. The manuals suggested #2 filters which was silly. I started using Mr. Coffee basket filters which worked much better. However, there is still a recurring problem with flow control into the pot when making 10 cup pots which is normal for me. The overflow problem is serious enough that I have decided to replace this in favor of another brand.

While this machine makes excellent coffee, my only complaint is that the coffee is not hot enough. For some, it may be fine. For me, I would like the temperature hotter. If you soak the carafe in hot water before brewing, that helps. But who wants to do that every time you brew?

Love this coffee maker. Effortless cleanup.Easy to get the right strength brew.This coffeemaker replaced a Cuisinart Grind and Brew.So glad I got this Capresso.Comes with gold filter,but I use paper filters instead.Makes for even less cleanup.The grinder holds enough whole beans for two to three pots of coffee.The grinderstays DRY.My Cuisinart grinder had to be taken out to be cleaned and dried beforeyou could make another pot of coffee.For me,this coffeemaker lives up to everythingI was looking for in a grind and brew.
