I have been using Mr. Coffee coffeemakers for years, and although they have generally been reliable and customer service has been helpful when needed, I found myself with a new kitchen arrangement and needed a coffeemaker that allows one to put the coffee grounds and the water in from the side, rather than lifting a lid from front to back, as almost all coffeemakers do. This maker has a lid on the left for the coffee and another one on the right for the water. I find it to be a perfect arrangement. There is also a control to change the quality of the coffee from regular to stronger and the like, but for the most part it just makes the same good coffee Mr. Coffee always produces. At the same time, although one can grow weary of the fact that Mr. Coffee seems to invent a new carafe for every maker, this new one, with a plastic top, seems to eliminate the problems of dripping that I've had so often with Mr. Coffee products in the past: it pours cleanly every time. The touchscreen business is nice looking and fancy, but that is secondary to me. If anything, I worry most about the touchscreen holding up over time. But the maker looks good, it brews fine coffee, it has side openings for the coffee grounds and water, and the carafe seems finally to have solved the problems with dripping that also seemed to accompany earlier products. It's a bit more expensive than most Mr. Coffee products, but it's well worth it.

Yeah, it's stylish, well designed and easy to use, and the elume screen is great-when it works. My touch screen started not working after only 3 weeks. No matter if you unplugged to try and "recycle" it or what, half the buttons would work, half would not. The next day it might work, it might not. Then when that seemed to subside for a day or two it began leaking like a sieve. Pour water in- it comes pouring out the bottom. My beautiful maple kitchen cabinets are just thrilled about that. Mine is another piece of Chinese junk which failed repeatedly in less then a month. Great design by Mr. Coffee, piece of junk construction. Mine gets returned tomorrow. ironically I have one spare coffee maker, a small Hamilton Beach that has been abused ad infinitum and is over 25 years old-it never fails, but it's not programmable. Before the Mr. Coffee, we had a Cuisinart and that died the moment the warranty stopped.

i have a elume coffee maker and i am very satisfied with it. one day i poured the water in and everything dissapeared. i removed the bottom cover and exposed the two rubber tubes that the water goes through. the entrance tube has a inline check valve. when removed there was a small piece of forigen matter stopping the water from going to the heater.i cleared that and put everything back together and now works fine. as with any coffee maker you have to be careful when pouring water into machine as to not get any forigen matter in the water that will plug the hole
